Souls- A poem

So many souls I've met, Gypsy souls. Always on the road, Always somewhere to go. Classical souls, These have an air of elegance to them. Baroque souls, So complex yet beautiful. Firey souls, They blaze any path they take. Angry souls, These cannot seem to find peace. Quintessential souls, Souls so pure. Trapped souls, So full of worries. Free souls, These are the happy-go-lucky ones, Always living for the moment. Dark souls, Because of their pain, They cause unimaginable pain. Gentle souls, Always radiating calmness. Lost souls, With eyes so blank, They feel misplaced in this world, Always in the search of something to hold on to. Which soul am I? I cannot tell, I am all I think. May be that is also a type of soul. I can see all, Therefore, I am ALL.

Just Let Me Be- A poem

Just Let me be, I am not that easy. I have been lost, I have been found, Yet to get lost again. I try to trust, To let people in, But it is so hard, They never understand. My ground is covered in shards of glass, For every step, my feet bleed. My heart has been stretched to its limits, With thorns piercing to every beat, And my eyes are dry, All I feel is pain. These walls around me, Are to keep me in, It is so cold in here, But it feels so safe. Understand this, I don't want to touch you, You are pure and sweet, My demons will tear you apart, They will burn you. So before you attempt me, Can you stand the heat? Are you willing to share my agony? Are you ready for all this? If not, Just let me be.

Scarred

These scars, They made me, They shaped me, They have a story, They burn deep. I may not like some of them, But they are part of who I am.

We Change

It is the cycle of life. Time moves, Seasons change, We change. We can get stuck back in time, Now in time, Or in morrow's uncertainties, But we change. We grow, We stop talking to those friends, We make new ones, We think they will stay, But we lose them yet again. We bend some rules, And we break some. We break some bones, And we mend some. We end up hurting others, And we get hurt too. We forgive, And we are forgiven. We think we control life, That we have all the time, But we don't. Life is really short, And it moves fast. Death snatches people close to us, We console others, And we receive consolation. We get worried, We get broke, We get money, We get merry, We think richness counts, Only to realize it really counts less. We get high, We get drunk, We hit the road, We screw up, We get to be the life of the party, Then we make a party out of life. We find love, We make love, We break up. We get scared of loving, We grow som...

Love-A Poem

I hope you feel love, Because love is as beautiful as it comes. I hope you see love, And get to feel its wholeness. I hope you find love, And it is worth the while.

Lover of My Soul-A Poem

Holder of my soul, Charmer of my heart, And lover of my mind. To sail in my sea of love, Is no easy feat. We will face the undercurrents, Lightning will strike, Thunder and rain will all be upon us. My captain, On your starboard, I will be there, On your portside, I'll still be there, On dark's edge, I'll be the light you see, And on the day's edge, A shoulder to lean on. I'll help you read the stars. The Northern Star and The Southern cross will guide us  As we traverse the unkown and uncharted, We will find comfort in the wonder of the constellations, We will be magic in the darkest of nights, We will be music in the stark silence, We will be calm as storms rage, In this sea, my love, Despite the ebbs and flows, We will stay afloat, Our horizon is beautiful my captain, And together, Holding hands, We will get there.

On that Shore

It still feels like dream, Like it never happened, But it did. I still feel the emptiness, The pain, The loss, And the numbness. I hear a laugh and I just remember, How much joy yours brought. I see the fallen leaves, And I think you left too fast, I think you were still meant to see more, You were still meant to see the sun shine and the flowers bloom. An amazing person you were, Always there to help, You shared my ups and my downs, You anchored me firmly and strongly. But I guess God needed you more, And I cannot ask Him why, No matter how much I want to. I do believe you are up there somewhere, In a good place singing with angels. I am jealous they get to enjoy your light, While I am stuck here missing you. From where the sun now stands, I am glad I knew you, I am happy you lived, I am happy that you were happy. I hope that at the beginning of my end, When my west gets amber-tinted, I will see you again, On that shore so bright.

Woman

Photo from Instagram  @MelaninMajority Woman. Made of love, Brings love, Gives love, Is love, And Love is her. Under the sun, She blooms, Under the stars , She glimmers, Under the moon. She glows. The tempest she braves,  And she keeps strong. To the wavering spirit, She is hope, To the wounded, She is a healer. Like the shoots of the ivy so tender, She wounds the hearts of the troubled, She brings forth comfort. Her life,  Her presence, Her soul, Forever is, And forever will be, A dwelling place, A resting place, A shelter.

Dear Friend

Dear friend, Do not be afraid of the journey, For both ally and enemy you will find. Ally to guide, Enemy to beguile. Gelid the road will get, Sultry the sun will be, And darkness will wield such fear in your heart. But be not be dismayed Dear Friend. For the winds will be fair, The seas will follow, And less rough the paths will get. In the night, The moon will beam your way, The stars will give you hope. At your travel's end, The bow of the rain awaits, Its smile to sooth your soul, Its chest filled with your treasure. So do not be afraid, My Dear Friend.

Simple Irony

It was May. Clouds devoured the blue sky, And thunder sounded from a distance, Rain was coming. It poured from the heavens, Quenching the thirsty soil, Spicing the air with earth's scent. The droplets felt heavy, And so cold against my chocolate skin, I didn't mind, It soothed my burning emotions. It was eerily quiet for a rainy day, No birds sweetly chirping, Everything was out of normal. Humans were standing still, Arms tucked in, Their faces sheets of anger. Not a single voice was heard, Just the sound of rain, Hammering the ground, Splashing the drops in uneven paddles, Hypnotizing every thing it touched. In the haze of showers, Breaking the ghostly silence, Was a baby strapped on his mother's back, Unconcerned about the greyness, Smiling to God knows what. His smile was so loud, Against the spooky background. He stretched out his finger, Pointed to Nimbus up there, And tried to catch those tears. He caught one, Looked at me, And smiled some more. Such a sunny smil...

Unrequited- A Poem

You told me I was beautiful, That my smile lit you up, That my eyes were always bright, That you have always wanted me, That I was everything you needed. I said No, Not because I did not like you. But because I knew; And I still know, The thin line between the truth and a lie. And the truth was, I saw the way you looked at her; And I knew you would never love me, The way you loved her.

Dare- A Poem

Dare to do right, Dare to be kind, Dare to trust, Dare to hope, Dare to reach out, Dare to dream, Dare to love, Dare to laugh out loud; The universe is yours to have. Dare to have faith, Dare to be great, Dare to be tough, Dare to start, Dare not to give up, Dare to shine, Dare to be courageous, Dare to be true, And most of all; Dare to live.

I Remember- A Poem

I remember the first time we gazed at each other, Your deep brown eyes burning right into my soul, That smile you gave me, Made me look the other way, I knew I was a gonner, You had me at that. Somehow I just knew you right for me, It felt true, It felt real, Everytime we talked I fell deeper, I was in love, We fell in love. I remember every moment of that love, The embers and sparks of it all, The shivers down my spine, Every time you touched me. I remember chasing each others hearts, When we kissed each other breathless, When we set our own world on fire, And the perfect harmony that was. Then things happened, Complications heightened, I did not want to believe it. To me,  A rose coloured glass existed between us, The stain just grew darker, Until the glass became opaque, I could not see through you, You changed. It became different. I had to go. That was memories ago, Those memories are still etched in my mind, Flooding my thoughts from time to time. I remember the flames, ...
